Lego Creator sets focus on buildings and small scenes.  This set is a Family House (Lego model 31012).  These 3-in-1 sets have the instructions for 3 different configurations so the builder can choose the one they like OR undo one and build a different one if they like!  They are usually rated by difficulty, so you can start with the easier house and move to the more complicated.  This set also includes a light-brick, so they have can have lights on!

The Lego has 756 pieces and is labeled for 8-12 year olds (meaning it is not for smaller children to work alone, but experienced Lego builders should have no problem with this set).
