Johannah Silva is an artist, art educator and mom to a kindergartener at Disney II. She received her MFA in Painting at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and teaches Painting & Drawing in the Dept. of Visual and Performing Arts at Wright College. She has recently decided she wants to start doing painting commissions and what better (and fun!) way than doing a portrait for one of the Disney II families, while also raising money for our school at the same time!

The image pictured, to give a sample of her work/style, is titled "Mom", from the set "Mom & Dad" portraits of her parents that she did as part of a curatorial project for an artist's space she used to run in Portage Park. Johannah's artwork ranges from abstraction to figuration and as far as portraiture/figurative art. She loves artists like Alice Neel and Lucien Freud, among others. She is looking forward to painting your child(ren)/pet/family member/loved one!
