Artist Statement:

My  current work is an exploration into the dichotomous relationship of invisibility and conspicuousness, that is the black american experience. Through composition and color blocking a central figure invites the viewer to linger without permission and reciprocity of  direct gaze. Either through placement or the lack of facial features a  feeling of subtle familiarity  is created without full disclosure, mirroring the act of creating art itself.
