Flower Paintings on Canvas

Second graders have been studying tertiary colors on the color wheel like yellow-orange and blue-green. We used these colors in a painting inspired by Georgia O’Keefe’s close-up flower paintings, by creating a zoomed in flower image of our own. Students studied the flower of their choice, noticing its large and small shape, and all of the different colors that might be hard to notice using our color mixing skills to represent these in our paintings.
