“Gratitude” by Marin Horizon School Class of 2023

 “Gratitude” is a vibrant mixed-media acrylic painting (30” x 48” x 1-1/2”) inspired by street artist James Goldcrown and created by Marin Horizon’s Class of 2023. 

“Gratitude” is a tribute to our school, our teachers, and each other.  The original collaborative mixed-media painting references the Primary Classrooms through Middle School, collaging schoolwork from signature class projects, performances, and outdoor ed.  The Eighth Graders then wrote tributes to MHS, excerpts of which they hand-wrote onto the canvas.  Finally, they layered the canvas with layers upon layers of bright, interconnected hearts; each painting the group canvas in one’s own unique color (key provided).  

Overflowing with energy and movement, “Gratitude” is a keepsake of their years at Marin Horizon — and the spirit of the Class of 2023.  It symbolizes joy, compassion and community as these students close this chapter and open the next.  Carrying one another in our hearts as we move onto high school and beyond.
