Angelina Barrucco uses repetition, ritual and endurance as a way to entangle herself into the artwork. She draws from lived and viewed experiences to work with her subject and create a visual relationship that exceeds the usual expectations of the medium and/or of portraiture. The framework of her practice is characterized by the breadth of its experimentation and diverse approaches to photography to explore the residue left behind by an occurrence through the interconnections and tensions between memory/loss, absence/presence and representation/re-presentation.

Born in Canada, she received her M.F.A. in Visual Arts from the University of Ottawa and studied photography and video under the tutelage of Lorraine Gilbert and Penny Levine-Cousineau. Her work has been collected by the City of Ottawa and other private collectors.

Angelina Barrucco utilise la répétition, le rituel et l’endurance comme moyen de s’intégrer à l’œuvre d’art. Elle s’inspire d’expériences vécues et vues pour travailler avec son sujet et créer une relation visuelle qui dépasse les attentes habituelles du médium ou du portrait. Sa pratique est caractérisée par l’ampleur de son expérimentation et par la diversité de ses approches photographiques, le tout afin d’explorer les traces laissées par un événement à travers les interconnexions et les tensions entre mémoire et perte, absence et présence, représentation et re-présentation.

Née au Canada, elle a obtenu une maîtrise en arts visuels à l’Université d’Ottawa et a étudié la photographie et la vidéo sous la tutelle de Lorraine Gilbert et de Penny Levine-Cousineau. Son travail fait partie de la collection de la Ville d’Ottawa et d’autres collections privées.
