Class Art: Aboriginal Dot Painting (Austin, Giblin-LE North)

Item Number: 223
Time Left: CLOSED
Description
As part of our cultural studies about Oceania, the students have had lessons about traditional art styles of Aboriginal peoples. Dot painting became popular among Aboriginal groups in the 1980s, and the style has become recognized around the world for its unique patterns and color palettes. This style is known for its use of symbols as a mode of storytelling and information sharing. For our class project, each student has designed their own dot painting on a wooden hexagon, and the hexagons have all been connected together to create one large piece of art.
