Cedar Strip Canoe

Item Number: 123

Description
Good friend to the trail Grant Faller has crafted and donated this beautiful cedar strip canoe. Grant has provided the following specs:
The boat is my own hull design based upon an old Old Town HW model but scaled down and lowered ends for windy conditions. Because of the semi-rounded bottom, initial stability may seem a little weak. However, I have taken it out with my wife and we felt very comfortable in it, and being fairly narrow, it tracks well and is pretty fast.
Length: 15' 1"
Weight: 48 lbs
Width at gunwales: 28 ½"
Layup:
1 layer 6 oz glass on entire exterior
1 layer 6 oz glass cut on a bias below waterline (cut on a bias means that the glass is laid up so that the weave is at a 45 degree angle to the layer below it . this helps to prevent the glass from ripping all the way through if you hit a sharp object in water
1 layer of 6 oz glass on interior
On the exterior are several layers of Epiphanes hi-gloss spar varnish and the interior has 1 layer of semi gloss spar varnish.
Thank you Grant!
