Founder, Teacher, And Leader: Grand Master Fred Degerberg.  The son of wrestler and the grandson of a boxer, Fred Degerberg was a skinny, weak kid growing up in a rough neighborhood on the Northside of Chicago.  As a teen he saw his first Judo/Jiu-Jitsu fight, and he was hooked.  He has dedicated the rest of his life to the study, practice, teaching, and advancement of martial arts.

Taking his life-long passion, Fred founded the Degerberg Academy in the interest of teaching kids and adults the full-life benefits of the martial arts.  While his achievements as a martial artist and sensei are legendary, the most incredible thing about Fred is his humanity.  He is kind, patient, respectful, loyal and generous.  He is a person of remarkable integrity and is a true leader.
