Description

Have you ever wondered about that beautiful old medallion above your light fixture? Do you rubberneck on wedding cake Victorians at Alamo Square?  Do you just want to have a drink and use a blowtorch?

Visit the oldest and largest ornamental plaster shop in the west! Walking into the studio is like a step back in time. Housed in a former WW2 torpedo training center on the Hunter’s Point Shipyard, the studio operates with no indoor plumbing, computers, or wi-fi. A visit to the shop is a journey through San Francisco’s architectural history, where moldings, medallions, columns, cartouches, and corbels are made entirely by hand using centuries-old tradition.

You will: have a glass of champagne, learn about SF architecture, and get in the trenches with Amy as she guides you through a fun and messy architectural plaster project. Additionally, you will go home with a beautiful plaster ornament that you made by hand. This will be an adults only event (see above re: blowtorch.)
