From Sarah: How lucky to live in an area with such a rich history of art and beauty!The spring and summer of last year I had the opportunity to explore and learn about the history of Rose Valley while plein aire painting. Thunderbird Lodge is a magnificent piece of architecture along with a fascinating history, inspiring me to learn more about this little settlement just outside of Philadelphia . As I recall this painting was created in plein aire on a very hot summer day a little breezy and sunny until a sudden downpour which sent everyone scrambling. This was the day I ran over my glasses for the sake of art.

Sara is a Philadelphia based artist working primarily in oil and pastel. Her focus is landscape and portraiture but also enjoys exploring other mediums and subjects.
Sara’s passion for the arts has been a lifelong pursuit. She began her formal training studying commercial art in secondary school and then continued her studies at the Philadelphia College of Art and Fleisher’s Art Memorial in Philadelphia. While raising her family Sara pursued a career in the interior design field. Throughout her career she honed her artistic abilities by studying and taking workshops with various instructors and institutions: Studio Incamminati in Philadelphia, Wayne Art Center and Wallingford Community Art Center to mention a few. After having success and a long career Sara retired in 2021 with plans to focus on her love of painting.
Sara is also a member of the Philadelphia Pastel Society and a long standing member of the Delaware Valley Art League where she serves on the board as workshop director.
Sara feels the most exciting aspect of art is attempting to interpret the beauty and wonder of our world.
