From Sara: This lovely scene is located behind the Hedgerow Theatre. This painting was started on my first plein aire painting excursion of the season. It was a peek-a-poo day in late March last year,between the sun playing its games with me I was able to get something down on my newly purchased surface which was also playing games.How could you not be inspired to try to recreate the beauty and sensations that you were experiencing? I was especially struck by the light highlighting the roof and the tranquility of the steam and how the waterfall twinkled slightly . Witnessing this rebirth of nature was worth the struggle of the slippery surface and the fickle sun, unfortunately that day I had to pack my things.

Sara is a Philadelphia based artist working primarily in oil and pastel. Her focus is landscape and portraiture but also enjoys exploring other mediums and subjects.
Sara’s passion for the arts has been a lifelong pursuit. She began her formal training studying commercial art in secondary school and then continued her studies at the Philadelphia College of Art and Fleisher’s Art Memorial in Philadelphia. While raising her family Sara pursued a career in the interior design field. Throughout her career she honed her artistic abilities by studying and taking workshops with various instructors and institutions: Studio Incamminati in Philadelphia, Wayne Art Center and Wallingford Community Art Center to mention a few. After having success and a long career Sara retired in 2021 with plans to focus on her love of painting.
Sara is also a member of the Philadelphia Pastel Society and a long standing member of the Delaware Valley Art League where she serves on the board as workshop director.
Sara feels the most exciting aspect of art is attempting to interpret the beauty and wonder of our world.
