Framed fine and detailed engraving by S. Freeman from the original heliogravure of The Abdication of Napoléon in Fontainebleau by Hippolyte-Paul Delaroche (1797-1856), member of the XIX century Ecole Française, who was famous for his dramatic depiction of both French and British historical figures. Napoleon's displeasure is evident in his scrowl and sprawling posture.
