"I knew that the wood ducks at the pond I frequent were due to have their young so I went to the pond repeatedly, without success. On my fourth visit, I couldn’t find the wood ducks anywhere, but I knew it was long past their time. Frustrated, I decided to walk around the pond, far from where they normally resided. I found them tucked into a little cove. There were about six young ones. I noticed the mother and one baby heading off by themselves to a grassy area. I waited until they both glided next to some plants to frame this photo. The beautiful tail feathers were a great discovery. I had never noticed the exciting colors on the female before. Vivid and vibrant. A definite keeper!" - Robert Feingold
