Description

Suffragist from the1913

This group marched from New Jersey to Washington DC for the big Suffrage Parade held the day before Woodrow Wilson’s inauguration.

They aroused much attention along the way and gathered marchers as they went.

The state signs they are holding commemorate the states that had granted women the vote.

Men in the crowd at the parade attacked the women and many of the women were sent to jail!

When I purchased this at an auction many years ago I was told that it was developed from the original negative though I have no proof.  It is archaically framed and will be sent as is.

This is a traditionally printed photo from the original negative.
