Much has changed since T and B Sports opened its doors on Fourth Street in downtown San Rafael in 1946 — including the store's name and location. Though the saddles and western wear eras at the store are gone, what remains, store president Jeff Brusati said, are the connections to his customers.

"My father (Romolo) started this back in 1946 and it was called Taveggia-Brusati Sport and Saddle Shop," Brusati said. "The T of the T and B Sports was his cousin Anthony, who never worked a day in the store here. Way back then, they both scraped together a couple of bucks and as the story goes, they said, "Let's see if you can make this roll, if not we'll figure it out."
