Mark S. Geston is a US attorney and author whose first novel Lords of the Starship was published in 1967. According to the SF Encyclopedia, this novel established the dark mood of all his fiction and, like its immediate successors – each of which is a study in cultural and technological Decadence set in a weary, war-torn Far-Future Earth – describes a depressive centuries-long attempt to construct an enormous Spaceship, whose completion would transform the fortunes of everyone involved and mark a phase of rebirth.
