Description
Beautiful handmade quilt donated by Liz Gray. The quilt measures 6'2" square. It is a generous throw size—meant for curling up on the couch—but it would also work on a twin bed or folded at the foot of a double or a queen.
Liz Gray is a quilter and quilt appraiser.
Statement from the artist: "I am an artist and maker. I find it so satisfying to sit down with raw materials—yarn, fabric, dye, paper—and to combine them to make beautiful things. Ralph Waldo Emerson said that 'Every artist was first an amateur,' and I think that it is possible for anyone to learn a craft if the desire to create in that medium exists. This past summer I learned to dye with indigo and do shibori and boro stitching, and have already incorporated those techniques into some of my quilts."
