Our pets are an important part of the family so you will cherish this portrait to be painted by local artisit Joseph Mushipi.

The artwork can be up to 16x20 in size, is acrylic on canvas and the timeframe will depend on when painting is requested.   Joseph will use photographs of your pet to paint the portrait.

Please Note: Due to the high volume of commissions and holiday events in which Joseph partakes, the pet portrait would not be completed by the end of 2023.

Joseph Mushipi is a self-taught Zambian artist. He moved to the US just over a year ago with his wife, Good Neighbors' Executive Director Kate Mushipi, whom he met while she served in the US Peace Corps. "I paint with extraordinary attention to detail, with a particular eye for the warmth of animation and the small humors I observe in everyday life. I consider myself an African storyteller through my work, drawing inspiration from African folk-tales and experiences. I also tell the stories of animals through my art and have found great joy in this type of work since moving to the US.”

Joseph has won first prize at two juried art shows since arriving in Rhode Island, regularly exhibits at Waterfire in downtown Providence, and recently had a piece on display at the Providence Art Club. He will also be exhibiting at the Scituate Art Festival this month.
