Since his retirement from academia in 2020, Derrick Te Paske has participated in 38 juried exhibitions. Over the past year, he has shown work with the New England Sculptors Association; the Concord Art Members Juried Painting + Sculpture Exhibit; ArtsWorcesters 20th Biennial and ONE, its annual Members Exhibition (receiving a third place award out of 228 entries); UNEXPECTED, at the Fort Point Assemblage Gallery; and 8 Visions at the AAM. Derrick Te Paske remarks that he has long been interested in "classical forms, the ancient, the so-called primitive, and the strange."
In the case of his piece "SCINTILLAE," he pays homage to ceramic and bronze vessels of classic form, but in this case made from wood with brass pins as a contemporary surface treatment.
The artist has graciously agreed to start the bidding at $300.
