Description
Oil
26.5" x 37.5" x 1.5"
After art school, Gay Youse taught at the Duxbury Art Association until 1968 when she became the Helen Bumpus Gallery director and exhibited both well-known artists and emerging talent. In recognition of the role that she played inspiring new generations of artists, a scholarship was created in her name. From the 1970s until her death in 1994, Gay spent her summers in Maine painting and teaching. The immediacy which best characterizes her work is attributed to the hours she spent working en plein air.
This oil painting was created en plein air of a marsh scene in Duxbury, MA likely at Bluefish River.
