Melissa Riley graduated in 1975 from Emmanuel College with a BA in art and proceeded to spend the next 35 years teaching in the Attleboro Public School system. Melissa taught art for 15 years before budget cuts bumped her into the classroom where she taught for the next 20 years. After raising two children and enjoying retirement, Melissa has become an abstract landscape painter, with work exhibited at several galleries including True Grit, Zullo, Gallery Twist and the AAM.
"Pumpkin Hill" plays with furrows creating patterns in the field at an imaginary farm. The artist's experience growing up with all her family vegetables harvested and canned is her inspiration for this piece.
