Small Male Head (Theresa Pedrotti)

Item Number: 621
Time Left: CLOSED

Description
Wood, mica, wax, pigment and hide glue
6.5" x 4.25" x 3.5"
Theresa Pedrotti earned her BFA in Painting at RISD where she studied pigment making and egg tempera painting. She creates the pigments she works with from rocks, minerals, and colored earths. She also works with wood, earth, and other natural elements to create sculpture.
This piece was carved from found wood and overlaid with found mica. Materials were collected in the woods. The artist was experimenting with the application of mica to wood, and wished to create a sense of mask over face without completely covering the original features. This piece has been aged, and the application appears to be successful, durable and permanent.
Please note: the artist is using hide glue which is not a vegan product.
