This beautiful image of an orchid in bloom is a giclee print of an original watercolor painting by Kauai artist Marcia Minnichhofer. Note the wonderful detail that can be discerned in this closeup of one of the Hawaiian flowers we love so much. The watercolor media used in the original gives a softness to the image that is so characteristic of this flower. This giclee print (2/150) measures 18" x 24".

 Marcia Ishii Minnichhofer (mini-koffer) was born and raised on the island of Kauai in Hawaii. Her childhood was spent in Kilauea where her father was the sugar plantation doctor. Marcia enjoyed painting classes and workshops in oil, acrylic, and watercolor media. Creating fine art in watercolor has provided the greatest pleasure and is a good medium for capturing light. She feels that light in a painting is very uplifting to one's spirit. Marcia especially enjoys close-up painting to show the details of tropical flowers. She has also captured local landscapes and loves painting ocean waves in motion, turtles, and koi. Her paintings are available in large and small giclees prints and note cards on her website, in her Etsy shop, PaintingsbyMarcia, and at local craft fairs.
