"Bowl of Light" Milo Wood by Ray Nitta "Umeke Mana'ai"

Item Number: 040-131
Time Left: CLOSED

Description
"Umeki Mana'ai" is a 5 1/2" x 3" bowl turned from an ancient milo tree fallen in Kekaha. The wood grain patterns swirl, displaying the many colors of milo, from dark almost black, many shades of browns, rich reds to light cream. Upon seeing the bowl, one is tempted to gently caress it with both hands imagining a child enjoying their meal in this special vessel. This piece could be used decoratively or as a functional piece.
The heart of the master is felt in every stroke onto the wood.
Ray Nitta is a wood craftsman and artisan residing in Kekaha, Kauai. An erstwhile teacher, he is still active in enrichment programs at various schools on the west side of the island. He has exhibited his work internationally. Ray is a board member of Lawai International Center.
