The New River Meets The Trinity Photo by Dave Van de Mark
Most everyone, driving Highway 299 between Willow Creek and Weaverville, is familiar with the turnout just across the Trinity from where the New River joins it. It's a beautiful view but not photographically interesting. So I stopped along the highway west of there, at every point where I could safely get the car off the road, and took a look to see if I had a good view of both rivers. Well, just one vantage point paid off and it offered an angle of view of the rivers I had never seen in 46 years. I was ecstatic!
The overall view is to the northeast, looking down at the rivers from the edge of 299. Camera was a Nikon D700 with 70-180mm zoom lens at 116mm. Exposure: 1/500 sec at F/8, ISO 800.
Weather was cool, overcast, and threatening rain.
All stages of the photography, digital processing and printing were performed by the photographer. This is an archival 12 color pigment ink print on premium heavy-weight fine art paper.
