Description
Middle Falls Canyon Creek- Trinity Alps Wilderness Photo by Dave Van de Mark
Canyon Creek is perhaps the best-known watershed in the Trinity Alps. As you traverse the valley from the road head to the lakes and places beyond, you experience so much:
A beautiful cascading stream, 3 "sets" of waterfalls, several lakes, meadows, and a variety of forest settings. One of my favorite places is at the top of the Middle Falls, which are more like a series of steep cascades than a single falls. Here there are large granitic "steps" one can relax on and watch Canyon Creek cascade from pool to pool and then "disappear" down the falls.
The overall view is to the southwest with the Boulder Lakes Basin in the left background. I used a tripod-mounted Canon 6-megapixel camera with a 17-40mm lens set at 17mm (equivalent to about 28mm in 35mm film format). Exposure was 1/200 second at F/11, ISO 100. It was a lovely warm day with a few clouds.
All stages of the photography, digital processing and printing were performed by the photographer. This is an archival 12 color pigment ink print on premium heavy weight fine art paper.
