Winner of 8 2019 Tony Awards, including Best Musical and the 2020 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, Hadestown intertwines the Greek myths of Orpheus and Eurydice, and King Hades and his wife, Persephone. Written by acclaimed singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell, the musical was conceived as a folk opera. Mitchell teamed with innovative director, Rachel Chavkin, to transition the work into a full stage musical.
