Description
Curated for you by Nicole Mione-Green Director, Casa De Amistad, this basket celebrates Spanish-speaking businesses in our community...
Solento's agave is grown and produced slowly and organically in Amatitán, Jalisco, Mexico at Tequila Las Americas (NOM 1480). Our friends at Tequila Las Americas, the Montes family, are three generations of agave farmers and distillers.
Made for those who appreciate the ritual of slowing down and being present, Solento is an award-winning, USDA certified organic tequila range made in small batches from a single estate in Mexico.
We appreciate that good things take time, and we know that good tequila is in no rush at all. The name Solento is based on the Spanish translation of the words “slow sun”. We celebrate slow.

CHUAO chocolate is a local chocolatier based in carlsbad
As chef michael explains, "being from Venezuela, which produces one of the finest cacaos in the world, we started with this idea of bringing it directly to the U.S. and opening a space in the market. and that’s why we chose the name Chuao. So, we started with Venezuelan chocolate, which has the flavor we like to express – it has a flavor profile that is a little more tart and fruity than european-style cacaos.
Why is Chuao chocolate so special?
The fundamental and first reason that Chuao is so special is because of its pedigree, the variety of cocoa used to create this chocolate. There are many varieties and sub-species of cocoa in the same way there are varieties of grapes, for example.
Michael's heritage is also a large inspiration behind many of the recipes he creates in the Chuao kitchen. Spicy Maya was the second bar ever released by Chuao and is an homage to mexican chocolate. Later flavors like Totally Tangy Mango and Cheeky Cheeky Churro are also products crafted from his childhood nostalgia.
Chef michael sums it up perfectly. "as a Venezuelan in the united states, I’m incredibly grateful for the way the American public embraced us. I was very surprised that people were so outspoken about their appreciation. it really fuels the day—when we get that recognition, we just want to do more good things," he said.
