During the Depression, jewelers had to resort to lower-cost materials to make elegant pins for those who still had money in the Depression. Thus came stones highly polished, or made from the new plastic substances.

Gold became gold-plated and the brilliance fooled everyone for a time.

Still, the pins were grand, elegant, and large. Today the design impresses us with its intricacies!
