Description

Wildflower Island is a two-acre wildflower refuge that sits within Teatown Lake. Accessible only by guided tour, guests will cross the bridge onto this sanctuary that is home to more than 280 species of wildflowers, trees, shrubs, ferns, grasses and more. Since the island is protected and virtually inaccessible to deer and less vulnerable to invasive species, Wildflower Island is an area where rare plants such as the Pink Lady’s Slipper Orchid can thrive. Visiting the island from April through September offers the experience to enjoy the ever-changing display of colorful blooms and rich natural fragrances and gives visitors a glimpse into the forest that once was.

Your tour will be guided by none other than Teatown’s Wildflower Island Curator, Mathew McDowell. Mathew is an engaging wealth of knowledge and will share facts and history along the way as you stroll along the winding path, taking in nature’s beauty.
