Pete Mauney works and lives in Tivoli, New York. He studied film at NYU and  received his BA and MFA in photography from Bard College. Always a night person, he has been photographing in the dark since his first serious roll of film. Mauney says his photographs of fireflies can range from “a spa for the eyes” to “almost pure chaos.” He has spent almost a decade photographing fireflies in the Hudson Valley, using Photoshop to painstakingly compile hundreds of timed exposures into a single image.
