Description

No visit to Florence is complete without at least some time lingering on the Ponte Vecchio, looking at all the glittering jewelry shops. There have been shops on this bridge since the 13th century. Originally they included fishmongers, butchers and tanners, but in 1593 Ferdinand I decreed that only goldsmiths and jewelers were allowed to sell their wares on the bridge. This bridge was the only one not destroyed by the Germans as they retreated over the Arno River.

This print was made from a beautiful painting of the Ponte Vecchio. The print is 27.5 inches wide by 19.5 inches high.
