She is a Kennebunk based watercolorist, has been fascinated with creating since she was very young. After watching her grandmother hook beautiful rugs and her father fabricate a Kentucky long rifle piece by piece, she explored knitting, crocheting, chair caning, soapstone carving, linoleum block prints, lithography, metalsmithing, pine needle and grass baskets, and rug twining, braiding, and hooking. A member of Maine Women in the Arts, she has studied with artists Dyan Berk, DeWitt Hardy, and Dennis Rafferty. Raised in Pennsylvania, Elizabeth has lived in North Carolina, Alaska, New Orleans, Mexico, Arizona, Guatemala, and Seattle, and inspiration from each place and the natural world often appears in her work. Trees, are a favorite of hers to paint. "Standing Together", her award-winning painting from last year's Maine Women in the Arts show, stemmed from a walk on a brilliant winter day in a Nova Scotia Park. She also enjoys splashing a blank piece of paper with color and finding patterns that arise with each brushstroke.
