Esther M. Wilkins is considered the Matriarch of the Dental Hygiene Profession. This pioneering author, educator, advocate and mentor passed away in 2016, only three days after her 100th birthday.
Esther M. Wilkins devoted over 75 of her 100 years to the dental professions and wrote the world-renowned textbook, Clinical Practice of the Dental Hygienist, first published in 1959. She also taught dentristy at Tufts Dental School for more than 50 years.
This book is the result of more than ten years of research and conversations with hundreds of Esther's friends and colleagues, and contains letters, stories and photographs that span her professional career.
