Description

For Your Valentine: 1 bottle of Maroon Wines 2019 Reserve Zinfandel + a box of Trader Joe's Taste Test of Caramels

Trader Joe's Taste Test of Caramels

Each distinctively designed box of Trader Joe's Taste Test of Caramels contains 12 square caramels covered in luscious dark chocolate. Each is hand-decorated with a unique design that may hint at the fascinating flavors that lie within. What will you discover? Double Espresso, Fig & Honey, Hot Chili, or Maple? Or Caramel Mousse, Salted Torte, Gingerbread, Pear & Cinnamon, Sea Salt, Passion Fruit, Crème Brûlée, or Salted Lavender? Feeling adventurous? Throw caution to the wind and try them without first matching them to the map you'll find on the underside of the box -- there's a great deal of fun to be had in figuring out the flavors on your own.

Maroon Wines 2019 Reserve Zinfandel, 1 bottle

The grapes for this wine come from old vines, which produce concentrated characteristics in the berries. The grapes were harvested by hand, destemmed and manually sorted. Fermentation lasted 10 days, with 2-3 punchdowns daily by hand. Prior to bottling, the wine was aged in 1/3 Hungarian oak and 2/3 neutral oak barrels for 24 months.

The aromas and flavors are robust with dark cherries and blackberries, mocha, espresso and hints of black pepper. The vibrant acid is balanced with a smooth mouthfeel and body against a backdrop of structured tannins. The wine unfolds with notes of clove and dried herbs, ending with a long finish.

"Mixed berries are framed by cedar and vanilla, with some briary flourishes, while the medium to full-bodied palate boasts a supple, creamy texture yet remains bright and fresh on the finish, adding an appealing hint of cracked pepper." 91 Points, Robert Parker

OUR ROOTS

Nearly twenty years ago, Paul Maroon's winemaking dream began with the purchase of 300 acres on the backside of Howell Mountain in Pope Valley, which he later sold. Around the same time, he also acquired the 37 acres that would become Maroon's permanent home, in what is now part of the prestigious "Coombsville Appellation." Today, 17 acres of this land is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, which produce Maroon's Estate wines.

Our land is a mosaic of rocky volcanic soil and rich gravely loams, which provides both easy drainage and water access for our vines. This unique landscape results in exquisitely balanced wines.
