In 1995, Gavin Newsom and Gordon Getty stumbled upon a magical piece of land in the heart of Oakville, Napa Valley. Inspired by one of Shakespeare’s most memorable characters, Sir John “PlumpJack” Falstaff, whose fun-loving and down-to-earth disposition was only rivaled by his fierce loyalty to Prince Henry V, with whom he shares more than a few goblets of sack (wine) at the local tavern. We pay allegiance to our world-class vineyard by crafting high-quality wines that honor the land, and we celebrate the convivial spirit of our namesake with their inviting, approachable style.

Groth Vineyards and Winery 2020 Oakcross Proprietary Red, Oakville, Napa Valley
The 2020 Oakcross Red possesses tremendous depth and complexity that is revealed with time in the glass. On the nose, a surge of ripe blackberry, black plum and cherry cola gives way to intriguing earthy/savory undertones: forest floor, cedar, Earl Grey tea, and wet clay. The rich palate is lifted and energetic, with a drive of juicy black raspberry, blackberry, and red currant beautifully framed by fine-grained tannins. Black fruits echo through the finish with hints of warm baking spice and chalkboard minerality.

Del Dotto 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon, Oakville Estate Family Reserve, Napa Valley
From our vineyard in Oakville located where our Piazza Del Dotto winery resides this Cabernet Sauvignon almost jumps from the glass with enticing aromas of licorice, black-cherry, and currents, blending with nuances of cedar, dried herbs, ripe fig, and Bourbon barrels. Gorgeous on the palate, but with some strength, this tends to be one of the more structured wines yet still finishes with length and silkiness. This fourteen-barrel blend is made up of the BEST French oak barrels we have including Treuil, Sylvain, Darnajou, Colbert, St. Emilion & Vicard. Should age well for 15-20 years.

Located in the beautiful Napa Valley, Del Dotto Family Wineries & Caves focus on small production, premium wines. Dave Del Dotto has spent the past 25 years acquiring vineyards in some of the best American Viticultural Areas (AVAs) including Rutherford, Oakville, St. Helena, Howell Mountain, and Fort Ross-Seaview Sonoma Coast.
With a family name rooted in winemaking since the 1400s, wine was in Dave’s veins. He started collecting bottles in the late ‘80s. In 1988, he was on a wine-buying trip in Napa Valley with his wife Yolanda when they stumbled upon a beautiful 1912 Frank Lloyd Wright craftsman house located in the desirable Rutherford appellation. Dave had a palate for fine wines and a love for real estate, and he knew the Rutherford property had the potential to produce some remarkable grapes. He and Yolanda purchased the 17-acre property on the spot after falling in love with the view. Shortly after, our family moved from Kona, Hawaii, and in 1990, continued the 800-year old Del Dotto legacy by planting new rootstock of cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, merlot and sangiovese.
