Woodman's has been a fixture of the North Shore for more than 100 years. On July 3, 1916, Lawrence "Chubby" Woodman, at the humorous suggestion of a friend, fried a few clams at his roadside stand in Essex, Massachusetts and the original New England fried clams were born.
Eat inside this venerable building or take your meal out to the umbrellaed picnic tables lining the marsh.
