Description

Have you been meaning to try growing your own vegetables but don't know where to start? Or perhaps you've given it a try but feel you could use a little guidance and help. Maybe you want to know what you could grow with little time or money. Or do you have a kid who wants to learn about growing vegetables?  I’m not an expert or a professional, but I have ten years of experience growing veggies in containers and in the ground in San Francisco. I’m excited to help you through a flexible three-hour veggie garden consultation. You can mix and match from the kinds of help below:

1. Visit my garden: Join me at my place to see firsthand what I'm growing. I'll share insights into my gardening process and provide cuttings of goldenberry, tree collards, purple basil, cucumber melon, or succulents.

2. Shopping for you or shopping together:  I can go to FlowerCraft, a fantastic garden store on Bayshore, or Slope Garden Center to select vegetable starts, potting soil, fertilizer, seeds, and anything else you might need for your garden. I can give you a tour and help you pick, or I can go and get stuff for you and bring it to your house.

3. On-site or phone consultation: I can come to your house to offer personalized advice on where, what, and how to plant your vegetables. I can also help you figure out some basics to order online.

4. Hands-on help: I’m also delighted to provide hands-on help with planting and caring for your veggies, sharing techniques, and keeping you or your kid company as you work.

On my deck and in my very limited yard space in Glen Park (some fog, some sun), I've successfully grown a wide variety of produce, including blueberries, pineapple guava, golden berries, satsumas, artichokes, cucumber melons, tomatoes, peppers, fava beans, lettuce, kale, mustard greens, chard, broccoli, tree collards, basil, eggplant, strawberries, garlic, leeks, onions, carrots, beets, potatoes, celery root, parsley, mint, beans, peas, and sunflowers. I've also had success with container gardening on my deck, especially using self-watering Earth Boxes, and I'd be happy to share this technique.

Let me know what would help you get going on your garden, what you're interested in learning, or what sounds like fun!
