Description

Take home this absolutely beautiful, one-of-a-kind painting of a desert landscape with a rising moon, an original watercolor by the late Moab artist James Schnirel.

As president and signature member of the Utah Watercolor Society, Jim’s art career included study with many nationally known artists. He taught watercolor classes at Salt Lake Community College as well as Kimball Art Center in Park City, UT. He also conducted experimental workshops in the Salt Lake Area and juried several art shows, as well as tv appearances.

Jim won numerous honors and awards locally and nationally and exhibited widely in the U.S., China, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Germany. He was represented by Earth Studio in Moab, Utah.

The artist’s work was also included in several publications: Haiku Windows on Light, Northlight “Splash 4”, Working Women’s Dream House, and McGraw Hill, Careers in Focus.

Jim’s artistic expression included transparent landscape watercolors as well as works on canvas that are impressionistic to abstract. This range of expression came from his belief that:

“I do not attempt to merely copy nature, but instead try to express nature in a special way.”

Painting: 14"x10'; Matted: 20"x16".

This painting was generously donated by YGP Supporter Nancy Willis.
