Description
Walden, by Henry David Thoreau, with an introduction by Bradford Torrey. Illustrated with photogravures. Houghton, Mifflin and Company, 1897 / 1902. Borst A 2.3.i. "In 1897, with the friendly assistance of Mr. A. W. Hosmer, of Concord, Mass., who supplied photographs for nearly all the illustrations, the publishers issued a Holiday Edition of Walden in two volumes, illustrated with photogravures. The present edition is a reissue of that of 1897, with only such changes as were necessary to bring the whole work into a single convenient volume." (publishers' note) Brown cloth hardcover with gilt letters and decoration on front cover and spine. Gilt top edges. Average wear to cover edges and corners. Pages are only lightly aged at edges, with tissues covering the photographs taking the brunt of the aging process. This copy has broken away from the inside front cover. See photo. Should be easily re-glued ... and we preferred that the new owner(s) take care of this measure.
