Leo Urena spends his time between different projects in the fields of visual communications and his artistic practice in photography. He has academic formation on Graphic Design (Universidad de Costa Rica) and Applied Typography (ELISAVA, Barcelona). He has taught himself photography throughout the years, focusing on personal projects that deal mostly around quotidian subjects and his own surroundings and which produces images that tend to abstraction mainly but not exclusively. His body of work is composed in large part of individual photographs but also of more elaborate series even going to other creative areas like collage and the design and conceptualization of books. Leo currently lives and works in Nosara, Guanacaste.
