Description

Learn to play American Mahjong! This auction item is for those that need lessons on how to play mahjong. If you already know how to play mahjong, please purchase a seat in item #408 to join the Open Play room of the mahjong evening.

The evening will start with cocktails, appetizers, and visiting. Then you will have a group lesson on the basics of playing mahjong, followed by individual lessons at your table with an instructor to walk you through gameplay. You’ll leave the evening with the tools to play on your own, and hopefully a new group to play with!

There are 24 seats (6 tables of 4 players) available in the learning room for the evening and you will be able to choose who to sit with at your table! Our instructors will help you understand all of the basic rules and you will get to play at least 3 games, so you’ll leave feeling confident to play your next game.

The event will be held at the Roe house on Saturday May 18th from 6pm to 8pm.  Details of the event will be emailed to ticket holders.  INCLUDES APPETIZERS, WINE, AND COCKTAILS.

Mahjong or mah-jongg is a tile-based game that was developed in the 19th century in China and has spread throughout the world since the early 20th century. It is played by four players. The game and its regional variants are widely played throughout East and Southeast Asia and have also become popular in Western countries. Similar to rummy, mahjong is played by creating runs or groups of tiles to match a hand. You do not need to have any familiarity with the game to join this lesson.

A big thank you to the Roe family for hosting this very fun auction item.
