Description
Alison Parsons counts the unique architecture of Bathhouse Row in Hot Springs, the frenzied energy of the Oaklawn Jockey Club, and the colorful splendor of garden landscapes and flora among her artisitic subjects. Whether working in her lakeside studio or on location, Parsons' fascination with texture, form, and color expresses how she feels about what she is seeing.
"I move from representation to abstract expressionism. It allows me the freedom to translate what I see and how I feel about it. My work is ever changing and frequently challenging, and is always passionate." Exploring color, composition, and form, Parsons' ultimate goal is to communicate something new to the viewer allowing them to become involved in their own personal journey and their discovery of the artwork.
Her work has been recognized and exhibited at such places as the United Airforce Academy, the Democratic National Headquarters, and the White House. In 2004 The National Park Service invited Parsons to pilot the Artist in Residence Program at Hot Springs National Park where she continues to serve on their selection committee. Her artwork is included in the permanent collection of the Historic Arkansas Museum in Little Rock and many corporate and private collections worldwide.
