During Madeline’s MFA studies, she was the first uOttawa recipient of the 13th Street Winery Expression Award, the 2022 recipient of the Penny Cousineau-Levine Award for her thesis support paper, and a recipient of the Stonecroft bursary.
Cut flowers, 2024 comes with a handmade poplar frame by Williamson Arts Co.

Special Instructions
Madeline Richards is a recent graduate from the University of Ottawa’s MFA program. Though paint, she explores ideas around memory, grief and the body–describing the body and its environment in transformation. Her paintings reveal a sense, both familiar and strange, that comes from the remaking and transforming of memory.
Madeline Richards a récemment reçu sa maîtrise en beaux-arts de l’Université d’Ottawa. Grâce à la peinture, elle réfléchit aux concepts de la mémoire, du deuil et du corps – elle décrit le corps et son environnement en transformation. Ses peintures révèlent la sensation à la fois familière et étrange qui accompagne le remaniement et la transformation d’un souvenir.
