Artist: Connie LaMotte

Connie is a local Cape native, born and raised in Chatham. Her family even has ties to Chatham dating back ten generations! She graduated from Nauset High School in 2014 and then attended St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY. After her time in college, Connie moved back home to raise her daughter in her favorite place. She is currently the Assistant Manager at Where the Sidewalk Ends Bookstore right in town. Outside of the bookstore, Connie enjoys spending her time in nature with her daughter and dog around the many beautiful beaches Cape Cod has to offer; their favorite being White Crest Beach in Wellfleet.

The inspiration for this oar came from books of course! After finding an old copy of The Finest Hours laying around her house, Connie used the pages of the book in her design. A subtle nod to Chatham that you'll only notice up close. The flowers painted on the oar represent Connie's time working for local florist Patrice Milley.
