Description

Collage

14" x 14" x 1.5"

Beverly Silva is a mixed media artist with a primary focus on collage. This medium allows her to combine her commitment to recycling and her passion for making art. Her ongoing series includes abstract cityscapes and torn paper collages. She also enjoys working with found and vintage materials. Silva is a member of the AAM, the Pawtucket Arts Collaborative and the International Society of Experimental Artists. She exhibits frequently in group and open juried shows. The artist enjoys the playful nature of collage, from the hunting and gathering of materials, to the intuitive process of putting them together.

Inspired by the unique shape and vivid color of the bird of paradise, the artist created "Bird" using random colorful images and bits of typography torn from glossy magazines.  This technique is currently quite popular for its nod to repurposing materials into a long-lasting and treasured format.
