Gwyn S. Marathas, an award-winning artist from Foxboro, MA, was trained from birth in fine arts. She has a BFA from UMass Dartmouth, studying painting & textile design/fiber, which led to a career in woven design. Recent exhibits include the AAM and Morini Gallery in Mansfield, MA. Known as a visionary artist, Gwyn's focus tends to morph from paint to fiber then back again. Her current work includes colorful acrylic collage paintings inspired by nature, fantasy and abstract themes.

"Nocturnal Focus" is from Gwyn's 2024 work. Recently, she decided to set aside her preconceived creative ideas/processes, to intuitively develop collaged acrylic paintings using a collection of various papers, made by using acrylic paints with monoprint techniques as her palette. Shamelessly destroying, then adding or subtracting the papers until each pieces was deemed "done." This fantasy floral has been created and securely assembled onto thick handcrafted paper, then framed using papers from the artist's collection.
