Florida Gator Coach Steve Spurrier and Danny Wuerffel Autographed Football.
Danny Wuerffel became the second player from the University of Florida to win the Heisman, joining his coach, Steve Spurrier. It marked the first time a Heisman winner came from a school coached by another former Heisman winner.
In 1996, Gator quarterback Wuerffel avenged a late season loss to arch-rival FSU, throwing for 306 yards (on 18 of 34 passing) and three touchdowns as the Gators won their first national title with a 52-20 crushing of the Seminoles in the Sugar Bowl.
This was the ninth time that a Heisman Trophy winner played on the National Championship team. It was the first and only time that a Heisman Trophy winner played for a Heisamn Trophy winner.
Special Instructions
This ball was given to me by my daughter originally signed by Coach Spurrier. During the 1997 legislative session of the Florida Legislature, Coach Spurrier and Danny Wuerffel came to Tallhassee to be introduced in the Florida House of Representatives. I got Danny to sign the ball then.
Condition of ball is fair. It has not been in a display case.
