This original The Wiz program is signed by Tony Award winner Andre De Shields, who starred as the titular character in the 1975 production. De Shields has won three tony Awards across his career, most recently for his turn as Hermes in Hadestown.

The groundbreaking unapologetically Black twist on the classic The Wizard of Oz story follows Dorothy's journey to find her place in a new world. The show features a dynamic fusion of ballet, jazz, pop and soul with 70s funk that creates a whole new reason to ease on down the yellow brick road.

The original began previews at the Majestic Theatre on December 24, 1974, and won sevenTony Awards.
